Bloomberg.com architecture critic James Russell faulted the design of the Atlantic Yards project for “hack expediency” that compromises Gehry’s original plan for a structure that would project energy into the downtown area. Russell suggests that the resulting project will instead resemble “a toad hunkering at one of the most important intersections in Brooklyn.” Russell also points to the substantial legal, environmental and financial hurdles that the project faces.
