Carroll Gardens Divided over Landmarking Effort

Residents in Carroll Gardens are divided over a possible extension of the Carroll Gardens Historic District. The neighborhood was downzoned last year and proponents of the landmarking process believe historic designation will provide extra protection for the area, which saw extensive development during the building boom a few years ago.

State Moves Forward on Moynihan Station

The state moved forward this week on the planned Moynihan Station, selecting architecture firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill to complete design work for the first phase of the project. The firm has long had a role in the design of the train station, which will be located in the Farley Post Office across from Penn Station.

Flushing Locals Concerned About Re-Emergence of Mixed-Use Project

Residents in Flushing will have an opportunity on Monday to address parking and traffic concerns regarding the planned Flushing Commons mixed-use development, a project that was delayed for nearly three years before being certified by the City in January.

Toll Brothers’ DUMBO Project Receives Initial Approval

A proposed seven-story Toll Brothers residential project in DUMBO was well-received by members of the Community Board 2 land-use committee this week. Committee members expressed appreciation that the developer opted not to build up to the maximum height of 12 stories, instead proposing a seven-story structure designed to fit the character of the former industrial neighborhood.
